Gypsy Horses at Blarney Stone Acres

Gillee

On May 25 Melodee had a filly out of Smokey (what a long twelve and a half months!). Her name means "song" in the Romany language, and we named her that because she is constantly singing — literally. What a chatterbox! We've never heard a horse sing and talk so much, not even stallions.

Pan

Tink's new colt out of Valour, named Pan, was born in August 2004. He is steadfast, just like his mother, and has a beautiful face and some incredible feathering covering his front feet, starting at the knee and curling out. (Most gypsy foals are born pretty fuzzy, and it usually takes a couple of weeks for the feathering to grow in.) Pan is the friendliest and most curious horse ever! It's hard to take a picture of him — he won't let you get far enough away to photograph him. He loves to lie in the sun. And Like all good gypsy horses, he loves to play and to have his butt scratched.

Meadowlark's colt by Valour was born on May 17.

Wyndee's New Filly

This foal, by Valour, was born in early 2004.

Godiva's New Filly

This foal, born in April, is by Black Baird. She has incredible movement and is gaited.

Monach's New Colt

Monach is a tricolored mare, and she passes this trait on to her foals. Here is her colt out of Lad. Imported in utero, he is a sweet, beautiful animal with great feathering and one eye full of white eyelashes.

On May 19, Tir na nóg had a colt, also by Valour. Pictures coming soon!
