The Teddy Mare Arrives at
Blarney Stone Acres!

The Teddy Mare is a fabulous mare of foundation stock in Romany history, reproducing fabulous mares of her own. She is a consistent reproducer of conformation movement temperament and extraordinary hair. So much so that she reaches legendary fame both in the UK and in the Us. When she came out for sale Blarney Stone took the opportunity to buy her. We already owned one of her daughters, a mare who has produced outstanding foals both here in the US and the Uk. With known traceable bloodlines and a history of fabulous reproducing we have added the Teddy Mare to our wonderful history making broodmares. She comes from well known back breeding. Great coloring she passes on to her foals from Eddie Alcocks' black horse and famous producing dame also with known history. Truly a foundation dame of the Romany gypsies. Of course the name Teddy comes from her previous owner and she has become famously know as the Teddy mare. We hope to be able to get a few more foals from this beautiful well known mare along with some embryos' because of her advanced years. So look to the future to see what this famous Teddy Mare at Blarney Stone produces!

With the input of Becky Glover and the Gypsy Cob Drum Horse Association (GCDHA), Blarney Stone Acres has successfully located and acquired the Teddy Mare. Teddy Mare, one of the most famous Gypsy horses in history, is the dam of Blarney Stone's own Rosie, and Maggie Tyler's Teasal.

Famous for being one the largest mares of her time and for producing some of the best offspring in history, her lines are among the oldest of Gypsy horses and can be traced by the Romany breeders back to the early 1900's.

Gypsy horse Teddy Mare's famous coloring comes from Eddie Alcox Black Horse, was inherited by our Rosie, and is often passed on to her foals. In fact, Rosie and Maggie Tyler's mare Teasal have both passed on this marvelous coloring to their descendants.

Blarney Stone will be attempting to help Teddy Mare continue her strong bloodline by producing her offspring right here at Blarney Stone Acres! This will be the last of Teddy Mare's offspring. The foundation mare beauty, standing fifteen-hands high, will then live out the rest of her life as a treasured mare of great stature and history proudly owned by Blarney Stone Acres.

Besides the Teddy Mare, Blarney Stone also owns two direct daughters of the Teddy Mare: a granddaughter and one of the few if not only Teddy Mare colts in history. This collection of Teddy Mare bloodlines is incredible!

We are honored to continue the tradition of the Romany breeders before us who have worked so hard to produce the worlds best selectively bred, Romany gypsy horses. With our foundation bloodstock Harry Conner's lines, Road Sweeper lines, Foundation Teddy Mare bloodstock and Blarney Stones Sailor, a direct descendant of Lad, Son of the Original Road Sweeper, we have the ingredients of the best of the Romany breeding. We will strive to continue producing quality offspring in the Romany breeders tradition.

All of our DNA results will be shared with the GCDHA who, with the guidance of Becky Glover, have been diligently attempting to create a worldwide DNA data system. It is our hope that this DNA work will help us and others discover the history of their horses. In addition, this process should enable us to identify any true offspring of Teddy Mare not only here in the United States, but across the globe.

The GCDHA and Becky Glover, continuing to have a tremendous impact on the Gypsy Horse Community, are currently in the process of creating a grading system and guide to assist in breeding the best gypsy horses possible. Blarney Stone thanks them for their invaluable assistance in acquiring the Teddy Mare and we are proud to be a part of their future endeavors.

Now that the weather is cool Teddy Mare has been brought over to reside at Blarney Stone. Those interested in Teddy Mare's offspring please contact Blarney Stone Acres. The foal she is being brought in with and her subsequent offspring will also be available for sale.
